MOTOROLA Speech Contribution 12.50 Round Table: The use of broadband and new technologies: towards an Ubiquitous society Digital Divide reduction and larger market competition in the Telecommunications sector are the main goals that Italy has to reach. A step towards them is represented by the agreement between the Ministries of Defence and Communications for the use of 3,5 GHz frequencies that will lead to the Broadband Wireless Access licences assignation.
Also Mobile WiMax is in the spotlight: its planned activation already in 2008 could enable the use of broadband services in total mobility mode. On top of this, requests by Mobile Operators, MVNO, Broadcasters…are growing.
Therefore it becomes a greater necessity to have convergent solutions, with the objective of providing better service to the public. This process is evident both in private and in public sector - as shown the investment of Public Agencies in new infrastructures, in wireless and in integration with existing networks.
Which business opportunities does WiMax really offer, which implications, which implied risks and developments? Which are the still pending issues?
Speakers: Sergio Antocicco, Chairman - INTUG Dario Di Zenobio, Head Of Radiocommunications Area - BORDONI FOUNDATION Stefano Festa, Vice-President - SOLVING INTERNATIONAL Matteo Fici, President - ASSOPROVIDER Luciano Frascà, Direttore Generale – INFRATEL Emilio Frezza, Head Of Infrastructure Area – CNIPA Stefano Giordano, Member – ISOC
